Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) – Fishing Info
Everything you need to know before your Pensacola fishing or river trip—no guesswork, just good info.
Where does Redemption Fishing Co. fish?
We fish the Pensacola area, including Pensacola Bay.
What are the target fish?
It depends on the season and where we’re fishing—but there’s always something biting.
In Pensacola Bay, we typically target:
- Redfish
- Speckled trout
- Flounder
- Sheepshead
- Black drum
On our river and bay trips, you’ll still have a chance at inshore species, plus a mix of:
- Bass
- Crappie
- Catfish
How We Fish
We don’t lock into one species—we fish what’s biting best that day.
That means adjusting to tides, weather, and conditions to keep things fun, active, and productive.
Bottom Line
More variety. More opportunity. More chances to catch fish.
We’ll put you where the bite is.
Where in Pensacola to we meet our guests?
It depends on your trip—and we make it simple.
Our 4-hour, 6-hour, and full-day trips board at a dock in downtown Pensacola, putting you right in the heart of Pensacola Bay with no wasted time.
Our 2-hour sunset and 5-hour river trips launch from Milton, just a short, easy drive from Pensacola, Pensacola Beach, and Gulf Breeze. These trips take place in the calm, scenic waters of the Blackwater and Yellow River systems.
We’ll send you clear directions and your exact meeting location ahead of your trip, and we stay in touch so you know exactly where to go.
Easy, smooth, and stress-free from the start.
Do I need a STATE Fishing license?
No Fishing license required
How much should I Tip?
Tipping is always appreciated but never required.
Each trip includes a first mate who is there to help you every step of the way—baiting hooks, handling lines, assisting with fish, and keeping everything running smoothly while the captain focuses on finding fish.
If you feel they did a great job, a typical tip is 15–20%, similar to other service-based experiences.
Do I need to bring my own gear?
Keep it simple—we’ve got the rest covered.
We provide all rods, reels, bait, tackle, and fishing licenses, along with a cooler stocked with ice, cold water, and light snacks. Every trip also includes a first mate to help with lines, bait, and gear, so you can relax and enjoy the experience.
We Recommend Bringing:
- Sunscreen
- Hat & sunglasses
- Comfortable clothing for the weather
- Any extra drinks or snacks you’d like
- Camera or phone for photos
Bottom Line
No need to overthink it—just show up ready to have a great time.
We’ll take care of the rest.
