Channel catfish might not be the prettiest fish in our waters, but they're some of the most reliable and hardest fighting. These whiskered bulldozers typically range from 2-10 pounds, though 20-pounders show up regularly to surprise anglers. You'll find them in deeper holes, around fallen timber, and near any structure that provides cover during the day. They're bottom feeders with an amazing sense of smell, using those barbels to hunt for anything from crawfish to dead bait. Summer nights are prime time when they move into shallower water to feed actively. What guests love is their tenacious fight - once hooked, they use every ounce of strength and that powerful tail to try breaking free. Redfish

Speckled trout are a staple of our inshore fishing here in Pensacola, and for good reason. These beautiful fish with their spotted silver sides typically range from 14-24 inches and weigh 1-5 pounds, with the occasional bigger fish surprising you. They love grass flats and shallow waters, especially at dawn and dusk when they're actively feeding on shrimp, small crabs, and baitfish. You'll find them in waters from 2-10 feet deep around structure and drop-offs, though they school up in deeper channels during winter months. Spring and fall offer the best action when water temps are in their comfort zone. Sea Trout

Sheepshead are hands down the most unique fish you'll tangle with in Pensacola waters. What makes them special are those human-like teeth they use to crush barnacles and crabs off dock pilings, bridges, and jetties. They're structure huggers, rarely venturing far from cover, so you'll find them tight to any hard bottom or artificial reef. Spring months from February through April are peak time when they spawn around channel passes and offshore structure. Guests love the challenge - these fish are notorious bait thieves with light bites that require quick hooksets. The payoff is some of the best eating fish in the Gulf with sweet, white meat.
